From Nigeria's needle-clawed bush baby to the snub-nosed langur of Tibet, from loris to lemur, from the woolly monkey to the "naked ape," primates are among the world's most diverse—and distinctive—groups of mammals. Seventy million years of evolving primate anatomy (much of it significantly influenced by a tree-dwelling lifestyle) has resulted in such defining characteristics . This book serves as an introduction to the basic behavior and environmental enrichment of several species of nonhuman primates that are more commonly used in education, research and entertainment. In many ways, this book is meant to be a “how to” manual; it is not intended to be a broad scientific review.
Primates too have culture and its transmission and acquisition is an area that is facing increased research concern (Huffman et al, ). The existence of culture in non-human primates is qualified through its practice by multiple members of the community. Munene E, Otsyula M, Mbaabu DAN, Mutahi WI, Muriuki SMR, Muchemi GM. Helminth and protozoan gastrointestinal tract parasites in captive and wild-trapped African non-human primates. Vet. Parasitol. ; – [PubMed: ].
Primates are among the most social of animals, forming pairs or family groups, uni-male harems, and multi-male/multi-female groups. Non-human primates have at least four types of social systems, many defined by the amount of movement by adolescent females between groups. Most primate species remain at least partly arboreal: the exceptions are. The vaccine, MRNA, given to non-human primates protected against infection in the lungs and nose, and prevented pulmonary disease in all animals, the company said in a news release.

This paper describes a primatology project using computer assisted learning and interactive multimedia to help students at the University of Toronto (Canada) learn about non-human primates. The purpose of the interactive program is to present the "natural history" of the majority of the plus species of non-human primates in constant association with that species'.

Modern Primates Anthropology is the study of humans and the human condition. Humans are primates. We belong to the taxonomic order Primates (pronounced pry may tees). This order encompasses humans as well as what we call non-human primates.
Non-human primates are our closest biological and evolutionary relatives. Feeding and Nutrition of Nonhuman Primates is a report of a two-day meeting that aims to evaluate the knowledge and information regarding the diet of primates.
The meeting also aims to recommend significant information necessary to accomplish a standardized diet for this species. Another case that would be used to argue against the idea that non-human primates have culture is the way information is transformed from one generation to another.
Human beings use both teaching and imitation to pass information. Non-human primates on the other hand, rely solely on imitation, and do not apply any aspect of teaching. The 2e of the gold standard text in the field, Nonhuman Primates in Biomedical Research provides a comprehensive, up-to-date review of the use of nonhuman primates in biomedical research.
The Biology and Management volume provides basic information on the natural biology of nonhuman primates and the current state of knowledge regarding captive management. Those pieces of language not found in other primates may have emerged exclusively in the human lineage.
This is one major way researchers reconstruct the evolution of language — by studying if and to what degree (nonhuman) animals possess its requisite parts. Talking Apes. Over the years, primate communication research has taken different forms.
